What made you study Physiotherapy?

I always knew that I wanted to be in the health field, but I never knew what exactly I wanted to do. I studied a general health science degree in my first year at university. During this time, I was also dedicating a lot of my time to Indian Classical Dancing, while also volunteering at an aged care where I spent some time as an entertainer through my dancing. One of the Physiotherapists at the aged care facility mentioned to me that she started to incorporate some dance routines in the senior exercise program as the residents really enjoyed the recitals that I performed for them. This was when I realised that I wanted to be in a profession where I could be merging my two interests: Dance + Healthcare = Physiotherapy .

What is your favourite part about working with our participants?

My favourite part of working with our participants is their level of motivation and commitment to exploring and developing their independence. I also have to praise their families who are dedicated to taking receiving clinical advice and implementing these. I love that people are always willing to give things a go and review goals and decisions if they are not in line with what they would like. Our participants know what they want, but always take on clinical advice and work with us as therapists to try to achieve these. It’s such a great team vibe!

Can you think of a time recently that made you feel really proud to be working with Better Rehab?

Pretty much every appointment that I attend makes me feel proud to be working with Better Rehab. I love that at Better Rehab, we have changed the whole game of Physiotherapy. Interventions are designed to be as closely connected as possible to things that the participant enjoys. This can include ten pin bowling for balance training, going to the beach to practice community access, hydrotherapy, going to the local gym and of course, dancing! And so much more! I love to see the happiness on the participants’ faces when we design a Physiotherapy program that they feel motivated and excited to do.

What is something unique or interesting about you?

I am an Indian Classical Dancer, teacher and choreographer and have been doing this since I was 6 years old. It is most definitely a huge part of me.
