Pain doesn’t hold back Kaelen anymore

It’s been a series of successful milestones for Kaelen now that he’s powered through pain.

Kaelen Leckie, who has been diagnosed with Cerebral Palsy, used to face pain on a daily basis.

Kaelen’s condition caused him chronic knee pain that impacted his day-to-day activities. He didn’t feel comfortable going out as much, impacting his fitness and community participation, and affecting his overall well-being.

But since connecting with Better Rehab’s multidisciplinary team (MDT), Kaelen has a newfound freedom.

“Better Rehab has been very helpful with everything in my daily life,” he says. “Megan, the Physiotherapist, has been helpful in improving my posture and walking, which means I can now go on my daily walks with less pain!”

Nowadays, Kaelen is walking up to 5 kilometers a day without knee pain bothering him. He also doesn’t feel his wrist pain anymore whenever he’s at work.

He also connected with our Occupational Therapist Heidi to learn how to reintegrate socially. She helped Kaelen get comfortable with going out and meeting new people.

Kaelen has even able to reach his goal of getting his learner’s driving license!

“My next goal is getting a full-time job and I’ve been working hard at doing interviews,” adds Kaelen. “I’m also looking forward to continuing to work with Better Rehab to complete some travel in the next year!”
