FAQs
What is the Better at Home program and who is it for?
The Better at Home program is a Hospital Substitute Treatment (HST) service. It for patients recovering from reconstructive surgeries, joint replacements, and similar medical interventions. Perfect for those who prefer the comfort of their own homes, it is provided by experienced physiotherapists.
How does the Better at Home program work?
Once your surgeon and healthcare provider confirm eligibility, we’ll create a recovery plan. This plan is carried out in the comfort of your own home, providing you with high-quality care similar to that of a hospital inpatient, but in a more familiar and comfortable setting.
Which insurance providers are accepted for the Better at Home program?
We are partnered with and accept hospital substitute treatment arrangements from NIB and HCF. If you are insured with either of these providers and are eligible for HST services, you can access our Better at Home program.
We can still provide HST services if you’re insured by a different provider, but you may incur out of pocket expenses.
What are the benefits of recovering at home instead of in a hospital?
Recovering at home offers numerous benefits, including being in a familiar environment, the presence of supportive friends and family, and often a more positive mindset—all of which can contribute to faster and improved recovery outcomes. Additionally, it allows for personalised care tailored to your specific needs in the comfort of your own home.
How do I know if I’m eligible for the Better at Home program?
Eligibility for the Better at Home program depends on your medical condition, the type of surgery or treatment you’ve undergone, and your specific recovery needs. It also depends on your insurance coverage.
Are family members or caregivers involved in the recovery process?
Yes, we encourage the involvement of family members or caregivers in the recovery process. Their support can be crucial in providing emotional encouragement and helping manage the day-to-day needs at home. Our team works closely with both patients and their families to ensure a cohesive recovery plan.
