Positive Behaviour Support for NDIS Participants

Behaviour support built around the person, not the behaviour

Behaviour can communicate that something is needed, painful, overwhelming, confusing or not working.

Our NDIS behaviour support practitioners begin by listening. We take time to understand you as a whole person, including your strengths, relationships, communication, health, sensory experiences, routines, culture, interests and goals.

This understanding helps us look beyond what happened in one difficult moment. Together, we explore what may be contributing to the behaviour and what could change so your needs are recognised earlier.

Support that adapts as people grow and change

Positive behaviour support should suit every stage of life. For children, we focus on things like communication, sensory needs and school, at their pace. For adults, it’s more about choice, relationships and getting out in the community. Life changes, and your support should too. We review strategies as your needs and priorities change.

Who we work with

Our NDIS behaviour support practitioners work with participants of any age, alongside their family and the people who support them day to day. Because we focus on building capacity rather than quick fixes, the strategies we put in place are designed to hold up over the long term. We’ll meet you wherever works, at home, in the community, in clinic or over telehealth.

With clinics across Australia, support is always nearby

Better Rehab has clinics and offices spanning major cities and key urban centres. Our clinicians are also able to provide tailored therapy solutions by telehealth.

Across all our sites, our operating hours are 8:30am to 5pm.

FAQs

What is NDIS Positive Behaviour Support (PBS)?

Positive behaviour support is a person-centred approach focused on improving quality of life. It may involve addressing behaviours of concern, but the underlying goal is always genuine wellbeing, delivered through evidence-based, individualised strategies.

We provide functional behaviour assessments, behaviour support plan development, and restrictive practice reduction. We also support implementation through stakeholder training and coordination with other clinicians involved in someone’s care.

Sessions run in our clinics or in a setting that suits the participant, including home, school, community locations, or telehealth. We aim to deliver support wherever it’s most comfortable and practical.

Our services begin with a detailed, person-centred assessment to understand the person at the heart of it all. We provide a ‘Good Life’ booklet for participants to express their goals, dreams, and aspirations, ensuring active involvement in their PBS journey. We collaborate with the participant, their support network, and other professionals for a unified approach to improve quality of life and achieve both NDIS and personal objectives. Our aim is to provide participants with a voice and ensure they are heard.

Yes, as a multidisciplinary NDIS allied health provider, we can offer PBS services as part of an overall plan. Our clinicians work alongside other specialists to provide comprehensive care.
