Siobhan studied at the Australian Catholic University and graduated in 2016 with a Bachelor of Occupational Therapy. She is particularly interested in working closely with adults with intellectual disabilities within the community, as well as assistive technology, wheelchair prescription and home modifications. Siobhan grew up in Ireland and was first introduced to what would eventually become her career by her grandmother’s experience with Occupational Therapy.

What made you study Occupational Therapy?
I was first introduced to Occupational Therapy in my early teens, when I personally saw the benefit it provided in assisting my grandmother to become more independent in her daily life. It was through Occupational Therapy intervention that she was shown techniques and was prescribed assistive technology to better manage her rheumatoid arthritis. From then on, I knew that this was the career path I wanted to pursue.
What is your favourite part about working with our participants?
I love working with people within our wider community, forming a therapeutic relationship with them and their support networks. It is exciting and motivating to work with participants who have different abilities and challenges, and find ways we can collaboratively work together to achieve the best outcomes and to help them do the things that truly matter to them.
Can you think of a time recently that made you feel really proud to be working with Better Rehab?
I really feel very privileged to work at Better Rehab and with our participants in the wider community and within their own home environment to collaborate on ways we can work together to achieve their personal goals and maximise their independence and quality of life.
What is something unique or interesting about you?
I had an amazing experience growing up and living in Ireland for fourteen years before moving to Australia. It was a fantastic time in my life, and I look for any opportunity to visit and travel back there whenever I can.
