What made you study Occupational Therapy?
I’ve always wanted to work with people and help them in anyway I can. I heard about OT at a careers expo in high school and I found the career very broad and diverse with great opportunities for learning and development across all ages. I have a particular interest in working with children and was really interested when I heard OTs work in paediatrics and help them develop skills in all areas of their life. I felt like it would be an incredibly rewarding job and I was not disappointed.
What is your favourite part about working with our participants?
I especially enjoy the age range and the wide range of personalities I get to work with. The participants I am working with are absolutely wonderful and I feel a real sense of accomplishment when I provide an intervention or plan that helps them support their goals and make them happy. The impact I can make on people’s lives is very rewarding and motivating.
Can you think of a time recently that made you feel really proud to be working with Better Rehab?
I haven’t been a part of Better Rehab for long, however I am super proud to be working within a team that is knowledgeable, supportive, and clinically experienced. It sets the bar very high and makes me feel really good about working in the company and providing the best care for all our participants. I also really enjoy reading the Good News Stories and having social platforms to connect with Better Rehabbers all over Australia to share knowledge and promote networking.
I have recently seen a participant who had been waiting for OT services for a very long time. When I started services with my participant I explained all the options and things we could work on together based on the difficulties they were experiencing. My participant was so shocked that all this help could be provided in a timely and organised manner and it made me feel extremely proud to be a part of a company that gets work done.
What is something unique or interesting about you?
I am a real fictional bookworm and spend lots of my time reading for leisure. I also used to be a jazz and tap dancer when I was younger. I really want to travel more and explore the world and all it has to offer!
