Staff Spotlight: Brooke, Exercise Physiologist

Brooke is one of our newest Exercise Physiologists in New South Wales.

Brooke has a passion for helping people and a keen interest in sports, and sees Exercise Physiology as a combination of the two! Brooke completed a Bachelor of Exercise Science and a Masters of Clinical Exercise Physiology. She has experience in both a clinical and a hospital setting working with various musculoskeletal, cardiac, oncology and neurological conditions and disabilities. She is also an avid dancer trained in many styles, from tap dancing to ballet, and has taught dancing before joining the Better Rehab team. It is with Brooke’s extensive background in dance teaching, personal training and now Exercise Physiology that has allowed her to develop her precise eye in movement analysis and her passion for participant care.

What made you study Exercise Physiology?

Growing up, I’ve always had a keen interest in sports and fitness. As I grew older, helping people and being able to have a positive impact on people’s lives also became something I was passionate about. When I found out that through Exercise Physiology I would be able to combine these two passions, and get joy out of what I do for a living, it was really a no-brainer.

What is your favourite part about working with our participants?

I love being able to work with such motivated and positive people. It is really inspiring to see the improvements people can make when they put their time and effort into working towards a goal. I love meeting all the different participants and watching the excitement in their face when they reach their goals.

Can you think of a time recently that made you feel really proud to be working with Better Rehab?

Working in a collaborative environment within my awesome team and seeing the positive impact they have with their specific participants make me incredibly proud. I feel as though when someone in the team has a great outcome, it is reflective of the entire team and not just that specific team member. To be able to work alongside so many other talented clinicians to achieve great outcomes for our participants and to be able to give them a better quality of life makes me feel proud to be a Better Rehabber.

What is something unique or interesting about you?

I grew up as an avid dancer and am trained in many styles including tap, jazz, ballet and contemporary. I was lucky enough to represent my state and performed in many iconic locations including the Sydney Opera House and Disneyland in California. I also taught dancing for many years after completing my Royal Academy of Dancing exam.
