A spinal cord injury not only took its toll on Helen’s balance and mobility, it also robbed her of her independence. But thanks to an innovative rehabilitation program from Better Rehab Physiotherapist Kirsten (and bucket loads of determination from Helen herself), she is now able to enjoy a better quality of life once again.
When Kirsten started working with Helen, they set clear goals, including improving Helen’s wheelchair skills, boosting the strength in her legs and helping her transfer from place to place (using equipment like a slide board) as easily as possible.
The results speak for themselves. Helen can now get in and out of a car with minimal assistance, as well as perform other simple daily activities. She is now more active and energetic around her friends and family, and is loving getting some of her independence back.
And Helen isn’t the only one loving the progress that has been made…
